PICTURES of our
HUMMINGBIRD FLOWERS
Honeysuckle - John Clayton

|
This
Honeysuckle - John Clayton picture was taken on our
deck. We tried this type of Honeysuckle for a couple
of reasons. First, we read it was smaller than most
Honeysuckle and could be grown in a container.
Second, we wanted a flower that would attract
hummingbirds. So far it's worked great for both
reasons. |
Salvia - Black and Blue
|
This
Salvia Black & Blue plant is a new addition to our
garden this year. We purchased it from a local
nursery because we read it was one of the top plants
for attracting hummingbirds. What we read was true,
hummingbirds love it. Our research also told us that
this plant might not make it in our area through the
winter. That's why we grew it in a container and
hopefully can put it in the garage when it gets real
cold. Even if it doesn't survive the winter we'll probably get more next year
because it is a great plant. |
Lobelia cardinalis - (Cardinal Flower)
|
This is our second year for this Lobelia cardinalis - (Cardinal Flower) plant. It grows
about 3' tall, needs lots of water and has to be
staked up at times to kept it from falling over.
Even with the watering and staking problems this a
great plant. The color of the red flowers is almost
indescribable and the purple reddish stems and
leaves add great contrast to your garden. The best
part about this plant is the way the Hummingbirds
love it. If you're trying to attract Hummingbirds to
your garden this a must have plant. |
